Dive lights
We use Archon Dive Lights for three primary reasons:
- Affordability while maintaining quality and reliability
- Performance
- End user changeable batteries
Choosing the right dive light can greatly enhance your dive experience and is crucial factor for safety and success of any dive where limited and/or no ambient light is available.
The deeper we go, the less color we see. Over one half of the reds are filtered out in the first three feet, while a half of the yellow light is extinguished at the 10 foot mark. By the time you reach 30 feet, everything will have taken on a blue/gray look.
Utilizing a good dive light will rectify this problem and allow the full spectrum of color and life underwater to be enjoyed. On night dives, or limited visibility, a good dive light is essential for safety, task completion or simply for an enjoyable dive.
Primary Dive Lights
Primary dive lights can be used for daytime or nighttime dives. They are typically larger, brighter, and have a larger battery pack which gives a longer run time at high power. They should be durably built, and in our opinion have a replaceable battery. Most of the Archon line of lights have end user replaceable Li-ion batteries.
Secondary or Back-up Dive Lights
The main purpose of a secondary, or back-up dive light is to protect the diver during a nighttime or low/no light dive in the event the primary dive light fails. Secondary dive lights are typically more compact, lightweight, and feature a narrower beam. All of Archon’s secondary lights have end user replaceable Li-ion batteries.
Underwater Photography and Video Lights
If you intend to do underwater photography or videography, a bright wide beam light is a necessity to adequately light your subjects. Archon’s range of video lights starts at 680lm and goes all the way to 30000lm.
We have been very satisfied with the quality, durability and performance of the Archon family line of dive lights and can highly recommend them. We are the authorized distributor for the entire product line in Canada. Please visit our website at www.archonlight.ca for more info.
